There current project is the Carey House, 189 Union Ave., which has 3500 sq. ft. of space and will bed up to 8 men and 22 women and children. This will be in addition to the 10 beds already at the old building. There is a definite demand for the space as they had the need for 3041 bed/nights in 2002. The new facility will open mid-summer. To help generate interested in corporate partnerships and other donors, they are hosting a Civic Luncheon, Winnipesaukee Expo Center, Thursday, May 20, 12n-1:30p. The guest speaker will be Laconia Police Chief Tom Oetinger with dinner by Hart's Turkey Farm Restaurant. Cost is $25 per person. For more information on the Salvation Army in the northeast, click
