Pres. Phil Bonafide advises that V.P. Larry Murphy is expected to leave Lakes Region General Hospital on Tuesday.

Win a Classic!
Pres. Phil Bonafide reports that our 3-day roadshow at Steeplegate Mall, Concord, last weekend netted $3895. Thanx to Michael Bastraw, Chet Cilley, John Grocki, Nate Robertson, Phil Bonafide, Bob Turner, Dianne Roberts, Joe Collie, Don and Sue Nelson, Jim and Arlene Fortier, Roger Ballantyne, and Jim Depoian for bringing in the big bucks. Our next roadshow opportunities are back at Steeplegate on Saturday, April 6 and the WLKZ Home Show, Winnipesaukee Expo Center, April 13/14. These two venues will only be possible if we get enough names on the sign-up sheet that will be going around Monday next.

Chair Joe Adrignola reports that our first Reading Is FUNdamental outings to Elm and Pleasant St. Schools were successful The schools provided banners, balloons, cake, punch, and enthusiastic students who all went home with a new book. Stations included bookmark making, reading sessions, book stamping and distribution, and the Joe Collie autograph center. Our volunteers included Joe Adrignola, Nancy Parrott, Nate Robertson, Kathy Calvin, Chet Cilley, Don Nelson, John Grocki, Randy Eifert, Joe Collie, and Jackie Bonafide. Our next appearance will be at Woodland Heights School on Wednesday, March 27, from 9:30a-11:00a. On board are Joe Adrignola, Chet Cilley, Joe Collie, Nancy Parrott, Joanne Hansen, Paul Normandin, Nancy Williams, Michael Bastraw, and Kathy Calvin.

Pres. Phil Bonafide advises that the Boards voted a letter of support and $1000 to the Main Street Initiative who is still soliciting letters from individual members to go into the final proposal package.

The Laconia Kiwanis Club will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary on Saturday, May 18, 2002 at Pheasant Ridge Country Club in Gilford beginning at 6:00 P.M. We hope you can join us.

Catherine and Jim Contigiani of Contigianis' Catering Service will be putting together a superb buffet for us consisting of the following:

Hors d'oeuvres & Cheese/Cracker Plate, Italian Style Meatballs, Fruit

Carved Roasted Prime Rib with Mushroom Sauce

Past Pres. Nancy Williams passed around a Harley-Davidscent candle manufactured by Jim Depoian's son. Perhaps this may be used as incentive for large raffle ticket purchases?

Past Pres. Nancy Williams and several other members will be joining the Meredith Club at Maurice's Restaurant, Rte. 25/109, Moultonboro, Thursday at 7:30a. All are invited to meet there.

Bike Rodeo
Chair Chet Cilley announces that this year's bicycle safety day will be at 9:00a, Saturday, May 11, at Cantin's Chevrolet/Mitsubishi. The committee will meet after the regular meeting.

Treas. Chet Cilley invites all to attend the next July 4th celebration committee meeting, March 19, at the Laconia Parks and Recreation building.

Diamond Anniversary
Treas. Chet Cilley points out we only have a short time to sign-up support for our 75th anniversary supplement for The Citizen. Rates run from $200 for a full page to $25 for a sixteenth of a page. All ads must be submitted no later than March 31 for the May publication. He also has an extensive list of potential sponsors from which to chose.

Health and Wellness Fair
Dianne Roberts would like the club to consider donating some bike helmets to Woodland Heights School's proposed Health and Wellness Fair near the end of the month. The Boards will meet to decide the matter.

Guest Speaker
Past Pres. Joe Adrignola introduced Exec. Dir. Alan Robichaud, Belknap County Citizen's Council on Children and Families, to the club. 46 years in the area and a former Laconia Key Club member, Robichaud was a graduate of the then-N.H. Vocational Technical College. The BCCCCF is the ultimate result of the Belknap County Community Justice group which adopted a program to provide appropriate diversionary services (modeled on an Oregon program) to the area. Robichaud presented a video outlining the development and goals of the organization. For information go to
