2001 Fall Classic
Dan Fisher passed out a gameplan for our proposed golf tournament at Pheasant Ridge Country Club, Monday, October 1. With a budgeted cost of $4680, we could potentially gross $15,500 in entry fees and sponsorships. MetroCast and Quick William Printing would take care of signage, getting players, and help with the goodie bags. We would subsidize 2 teams from WLKZ and The Weirs Times in exchange for heavy advertising. The club would need to supply 3-5 members for the morning of the event and the same for the afternoon. The cost to players would be $500 for a team of four and includes dinner, greens fees, and cart rental. The field will be limited to 24 teams. Dan points out that this would be an excellent opportunity to "be seen in the community."

Fines
Sgt.-at-Arms Roger Landry found Howard Bacon, Larry Murphy, and Scott Beane pinless; Chet Cilley and Scott Beane were tardy.

Marking Our Turf
It was suggested that Pheasant Ridge Country Club be contacted to see if they would allow a Kiwanis sign on the property.

On the Wing

Old Home Day
V.P. Larry Murphy will need some help to pick up supplies for our appearance at Gilford Old Home Day, Saturday, August 25. Next week he will send around a sign-up sheet for four members per shift. We will be using gas grills and serve most of what we did from the food trailer, except french fries.

Boards Matters
Sec.'y Kathy Calvin reports that on July 2, the Boards voted $150.98 to repay Sec.'y Kathy Calvin for signs; Dave Bettoney was granted a leave of absence from April 1 to August 30; Pres. Don Nelson, Imm. Past Lt. Gov. Chet Cilley, and Sec.'y Kathy Calvin are delegates for the District Convention with a $200 stipend; a $1500 payment to the New England Foundation was approved; dental bills were paid; and $100 to the Mr. Fixit Program was tabled.

Events Devalued
Sr. Member Ed Chertok observed that we may be missing out on good publicity and fundraising opportunities. "The annual installation should be an important event--both socially and also an impressive installation with someone with a message to end the evening on a high note. The 75th anniversary is an important event, not only for the Laconia Kiwanis Club, but also the city of Laconia, the Lakes Region, as well as the State of N.H. Past important anniversaries have also been good fundraisers." He went on to explain that the installation dinners also offer a chance to reflect over the past year, invite past members, and other guests, and recognize achievement. He hopes that everyone in the club will pitch in and help with our parties.

More Boards Matters
The Boards met after the regular meeting. $70 was approved to register the domain name: laconiakiwanis.com. Steve Loughlin will handle the paperwork and integration with MetroCast Cablevision who have donated server space. Next up was presentation and approval of the committee's proposed graphics for the motorcycle trailer. Fabrication estimates will be presented at a later date with a desired delivery in time for Gilford Old Home Day. $1500 was voted to the Community Health & Hospice: $100 towards the Transport Voucher Program to provide for needy parents who need to get their children to medical care and $500 for toys for a the Community Play Group for families who aren't able to afford regular day care. $257 went to dental bills. V.P. Larry Murphy is rumored to have set Friday, May 5, 2002 at Pheasant Ridge Country Club for our 75th Anniversary.
