EDITORS’ NOTE: Regarding the above picture - For many decades, new Kiwanis members received an apron at the time of their induction which they were required to wear for the next three meetings. It was then incumbent upon existing Kiwanis members to personally welcome the new member into the club and then sign their name on the apron. That way, a new member would have the opportunity to meet all club members. After three meetings, the signatures on the apron would be audited. Any member that had failed to sign the apron would then be fined.
GUEST SPEAKER:
Bill Gile introduced our guest speaker, Bryan Moynihan. Moynihan is a native of Massachusetts who moved to New Hampshire to start a career in law enforcement in September 2013 with the Laconia Police Department. In 2017, Officer Moynihan became a D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) officer. He also serves as the School Resource officer at the Laconia Middle School.
During his presentation, Bryan explained the D.A.R.E. program he is administering the 5th grade.
Immediate Past President, Bill Gile thanks Bryan Moynihan for his presentation.

The meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
KEY CLUB NEWS:
Congratulations to LHS Key Club member Macy Swormstedt on her outstanding athletic accomplishment.
Some Kiwanis members may remember that Macy assisted the Kiwanis Club last year at the Hoop Shoot with other Laconia High School Key Club members at the Concession Stand. However, most Kiwanians may not know that Macy is an outstanding member of the LHS Sachems basketball team. Macy earned her way into the Laconia High School record books by recently scoring her 1,000th career point as a Sachem. To read the details about Macy’s accomplishment, which appeared in The Laconia Daily Sun on 1/26/24, “click” here.
Accolades to Brad Geltz & his wife, Luann Mussari and John & Shawn Intorcio for their community service on Election Day. All participated as Poll Workers on January 23rd during the NH Presidential Primaries. Brad & Luann were spotted working the polls in Ward 3 at the Laconia Middle School. John & Shawn worked in Ward 6 at the Leavitt Park Club House on Elm Street. Although John wasn’t caught on camera, Shawn was seen on national television on MSNBC. | ||
