ANNUAL MEETING AND ELECTION OF OFFICERS:

DONATION TO LOU ATHANAS YOUTH BASKETBALL
Keith Styles was pleased to present a check to Danielle Millen of LAYBL for their assistance with our recent Hoop Shoot.

GUEST SPEAKER:

Betty introduced our guest speaker, Danielle Millen.

Danielle is the Secretary of Lou Athanas Youth Basketball League (LAYBL).

Danielle noted that the mission of LAYBL is to provide an opportunity for the youth in the city of Laconia to learn and enjoy the sport of basketball while focusing on the ideas of good sportsmanship, honesty and respect for authority.

A summary of major points discussed include:
• There were 300+ players during the 2023/24 season
• Players are never turned away due to inability to pay
• There are 7 city gyms used
• There are six divisions of boys and girls
• The Board of Directors meet September through April
• Regular Season runs from late November through February
• Annually, LAYBL runs an annual tournament which lasts five days. In 2024, the tournament included approximately 30 teams from local communities and one from Maine.

 

BIKE WEEK REMINDER:

Bike Week will be held this year from Saturday, June 8th, through Sunday, June 16th.
As in the past, we are looking for volunteers to assist the Club at the Laconia Kiwanis Hydration Station.
