Key Club News...
Key Club reports that they have raised enough money to go to Africa and would like to raise about $2000 more so that they can do everything they want to do

In Need of a Volunteer...
President Brian reminded all that we are looking for a representative to attend the 54th annual meeting of the Kiwanis Foundation of New England on June 20th in Boston.
Anyone interested should contact Pres. Brian.

 

Kiwanis KARES...
Kathy Calvin reminded the club of the Kiwanis Kares book distribution at Woodland Heights on June 9th at 9:45 am. So far those who have signed up are: Chet Cilley, Dick Metz, Larry Murphy, Joe Adrignola, Brian Winslow and Sec. Kathy. Kathy showed off many thank you written by the kids at Woodland Heights for the books they received at the last reading.

Bike Week Update:

Dick Metz requested that club members sign up for a shift on the Boardwalk during bike week, he also mentioned that the fundraising committee will meet this evening after the Board finishes its meeting.

Roger Webster asked for 30 seconds and took an eternity to discuss types of strokes as well as indications that someone may be having a stroke.

Happy Dollars:

Dick Metz gave $5 or the good work that Steve Loughlin did for the Belknap Mill “Life’s a Beach” fundraiser.
Howard Bacon $3 for winning.
Paul Normandin gave $5 because his grandson is ranked 3rd in his division for track and field and tied the record high jump at 6’ 4”.
Dianne Roberts gave a $1 because her oldest son, who just finished his second year in college, has maintained a 3.8 GPA.
Roger Landry gave 5 happy dollars because his son just returned safely from Saudi Arabia.

 

Free Meal:
Phil Bonafide won and promptly asked for steak.

Common Pantry:
$394 was collected.
$44 was collected by the club. An additional $350 was contributed by Denise Dow who reported she has been saving money for over a year. Denise noted, "instead of spending it on things I don't need to do," she puts it in the can.

Board Minutes:
Secretary Kathy read the minutes from the May 4th Directors meeting. The Board:
*Approved the General Fund and Charity Fund as read.
*Approved a leave of absence to Don Nelson for the month of July.
*Approved
a donation of $250.00 to the D.A.R.E. program.
*Approved a donation of $100.00 to the Lakes Region Scholarship Foundation for a full page ad.

Kathy also reported on the election held May 11th noting that the new Directors elected for 2009 through 2011 were: Lori Dickson, Jim Fortier, Peter Karagianis and Dianne Roberts. Filling a vacant spot on the Board for 2009 through 2010 was Joe Collie. Elected 2nd VP was Denise Dow, 1st VP was Mike Marsh, and Dick Metz was elected President. At the same time, a Board of Directors meeting was held and, once again, Kathy Calvin was appointed Secretary and Joe Adrignola was appointed Treasurer for the 2009-2010 fiscal year.
